THE NEW SPIRIT (2015)

The New Spirit was a set of recordings and a performance work developed for Liquid Architecture's Capitalist Surrealism event at the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne. The work attempts to perfectly reproduce the generic aesthetics of popular electronic music in order to investigate the standardisation of musical aesthetics in post-digital environments. The works also extends to re-performances of generic engagements with various common software such as Firefox and PowerPoint. The New Spirit re-performs the generic and standardised nature of post-digital aesthetic production, and explores the way in which innovation and newness is automatically produced through software based production processes.
